About me

Hi 👋 I’m Lisa and I’m an occupational therapist (OT Reg. Ont.).

I work with people who have ADHD and commonly linked conditions like autism, anxiety, depression, and learning disabilities.

As someone who was diagnosed with ADHD as an adult, I understand some of the challenges of navigating mental health services and academic spaces without tailored support.

My aim is to provide personalized and neurodivergent affirming care. This often involves helping you find ways to work with your ADHD, rather than against it. This may be challenging for you right now, especially if you're navigating academic, work, social, or family environments that aren’t designed for ADHDers or neurodivergent minds. My approach considers these environmental factors, along with your personal strengths, and the activities you engage in, to help you identify barriers and use the right tools for you.

You can learn more about OT for ADHD/ Autism on the Services page.

How it started:

Before I was diagnosed with ADHD myself, I was primarily working as an OT with children with ADHD and autism. I enjoyed learning about neurodivergence and I valued the OT perspective in this area.

Working with families showed me how important it was for people with ADHD/ autism to actually understand how their brain works. This not only provided validation, but empowered ADHDers and autistic folks to use tools that are tailored to them, rather than trying to fit the mold.

For both my work and personal interest, I was continuing to learn more and more about ADHD and autism.

This work prompted me to ask questions about my own brain— and as you can probably guess, this led to me pursuing an assessment and receiving an ADHD diagnosis as an adult. I started to learn more about adult ADHD and autism and how to support clients at all ages.

I noticed a gap in mental health care, with few clinicians offering services for adults with ADHD/ autism. So, I decided to start Beyond Boundaries to offer mental health support for neurodivergent folks that is outside-the-box from traditional mental health care; We’re not getting rid of your ADHD or autism… we’re finding ways to align with it.
